Central Food Retail Reaffirms Confidence in Hat Yai's Post-Flood Recovery and Long-Term Economic Potential with the Transformation of the new “TOPS Robinson Hat Yai City”, Featuring More Than 17,000 Curated Products and Enhanced Business Continuity Measures to Strengthen Retail Confidence and Support Sustainable Community Growth

Bangkok, 23 July 2026 – Central Food Retail Co., Ltd., under Central Retail, the operator of TOPS, TOPS FOOD HALL, TOPS DAILY, TOPS ONLINE, TOPS CARE, and Matsukiyo, has officially reopened ‘TOPS Robinson Hat Yai City’ following the major floods that affected the area in late 2025. Reinforcing its confidence in Hat Yai's role as the economic, commercial, and tourism hub of Southern Thailand, the company has made a significant investment to comprehensively renovate the store. The upgraded branch features an enhanced shopping environment and a curated assortment of more than 17,000 quality products, spanning groceries, fresh food, and imported products from around the world. In addition, the branch has strengthened its flood preparedness through enhanced infrastructure and preventive measures to ensure greater operational resilience, while delivering a shopping experience that is convenient, safe, and designed to meet customers' long-term needs. TOPS Robinson Hat Yai City is now open on the 1st Floor of Robinson Hat Yai.

Mr. Thanawat Jirajariyavej, Managing Director of Central Food Retail under Central Retail, said: "Hat Yai District in Songkhla Province is one of Southern Thailand's most important economic, commercial, and tourism hubs, with strong long-term growth potential. Following the major floods in late 2025, many affected areas have been steadily recovering through the collective efforts of the public and private sectors, including the restoration of infrastructure, economic revitalization, and initiatives to rebuild public confidence so the city can regain its full potential.

Meanwhile, Hat Yai’s tourism sector continues to recover steadily, driven by the return of both Thai and foreign tourists, particularly from Malaysia. This is further supported by the opening of the new Sadao border checkpoint, which will enhance travel, trade, and tourism potential in the area. As a leading food retailer that has grown alongside our customers and local communities, TOPS remains confident in Hat Yai's long-term potential and is committed to playing an active role in the city's recovery. We have therefore made a significant investment to comprehensively renovate TOPS Robinson Hat Yai City, enhancing our service standards while supporting the local economic recovery, reinforcing confidence in the area's future, and preparing to serve the city's continued growth over the long term.”

The renovation was made based on three core areas:

  • Retail Experience Enhancement: Elevating the shopping experience through a modern store redesign at a new location on the 1st floor of the shopping center, offering customers greater convenience when visiting and shopping. This is accompanied by a curated selection of diverse, high-quality products that perfectly cater to every daily shopping need and consumer lifestyle.
  • Elevating Product Assortment Excellence with a curated selection of more than 17,000 quality products, spanning fresh food, ready-to-eat meals, imported products from around the world, and everyday grocery essentials. The store features dedicated lifestyle-focused zones, including FRESH FROM FIELDS for premium fruits and vegetables, CUISINE MASTER for cooking ingredients and seasonings, THE BAKER for freshly baked goods, TAKE AWAY STREET for ready-to-eat meals, FROZEN & CO. for frozen products, TOPS WINE CELLAR for premium wines and alcoholic beverages from around the world, LOOKS for beauty, health and lifestyle products, SNACKER for snacks from around the world, BABY & ME for mother and baby essentials, PET 'N ME for pet care products, EVER CLEAN for household cleaning solutions, and I LOVE THAILAND, a dedicated zone showcasing locally sourced products and regional specialties from across the country, reflecting TOPS' commitment to supporting Thai entrepreneurs by expanding market access for distinctive local products while fostering sustainable growth alongside local communities.
  • Strengthening Risk Management and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) by developing a comprehensive and systematic flood preparedness framework to enhance future resilience. The enhanced measures include the implementation of Flood Risk Maps to assess branch-level risks, upgraded flood protection systems to help prevent water ingress, strengthened monitoring and emergency response protocols, the establishment of dedicated Flood Rescue Teams, the provision of essential emergency equipment, and regular emergency drills conducted in collaboration with the shopping centre. These initiatives are designed to enhance preparedness, in safeguarding customers, employees, and local communities, while ensuring uninterrupted business operations and service continuity under all circumstances.

"Beyond investing in the comprehensive renovation of this branch, TOPS is equally committed to strengthening the local economy by creating employment opportunities for people in the area, supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs, and providing community products with access to TOPS' nationwide retail network. By helping increase product value, expand market opportunities, and generate sustainable income for local communities, we reaffirm our role as a leading food retailer that goes beyond delivering quality products and services. We are committed to building a stronger local economy and growing sustainably alongside the communities we serve," concluded Mr. Thanawat.
