Central Retail leads the way in waste reduction with “Reduce, Separate, Dispose Right – Unite for Zero Waste”, promoting sustainable practices across all business units and driving towards a cleaner, greener future.

1. Waste Management Training Program

Central Retail prioritizes efficient waste management by focusing on raising awareness and transform the behaviors of employees and stakeholders across all business units. This covers the efficient use of resources, waste reduction, and proper waste segregation at the source which are the key mechanisms for reducing environmental impact and supporting sustainable business operations.

Furthermore, Central Retail emphasizes engagement through internal communications and various campaigns. These initiatives encourage employees and stakeholders to recognize their roles in waste reduction and to actively participate in driving the organization toward its environmental goals.

In 2024, over 400 participants joined the program including leaders and employees from all business units. And in 2025, Central Retail has expaded the training program to online format via CNEXT system. This led to a significant rise in participations to over 21,850 employees and stakeholders from various business units.

This substantial increase reflects a elevated level of engagement and a growing commitment among personnel toward systematic waste management.

2. Value Chain Packaging Waste Management Project

TOPS, under Central Retail, partnered with organisations to switch beer packaging from glass bottles to 100% recyclable aluminium cans, piloted at 8 TOPS branches on Koh Phangan. The project reduces waste at the source, supports a circular economy, and promotes Koh Phangan as a model green destination.

3. Surplus Food Management Project

GO WHOLESALE, under Central Retail, teamed up with SOS Foundation to donate surplus food from Bangkok and Chiang Mai, delivering over 50,264 meals, cutting food waste by more than 12 tons and reducing CO2 by over 30,269 kg.

4. Say No To Plastic Bags Project

Central Department Store and Robinson Department Store, under Central Retail, encourage customers to avoid single use plastic bags and switch to reusable ones to reduce waste, promote sustainable habits, and support the use of eco-friendly materials across stores nationwide.

5. Get Donate Make Your Move Project

Supersports, under Central Retail, invited customers to donate gently used sports shoes to support children and youth in shelters nationwide. In 2024, more than 3,223 pairs were collected, reducing over 3.72 tons of waste.

6. Eco-Friendly Signage Project

Central Marketing Group (CMG), under Central Retail, replaced PP board signage with recyclable honeycomb paper in marketing campaigns, reducing plastic use by over 542 sq.m. The initiative also promotes reuse and recycling, cutting down the company’s carbon footprint.

7. Packaging Optimization Project

Thaiwatsadu, under Central Retail, introduced reusable cargo mesh and Extra Roll Cages, reducing single-use plastic and pallet use, halving logistics space, and saving over 10.54 tons of plastic and more than 20.4 million baht annually in transport costs.

8. Trade-In for a Better Life Project

Power Buy, under Central Retail, collects used electrical appliances for recycling or donation to schools and remote communities. In 2024, the project reduced waste by 24.4 tons and cut carbon emissions by 8,741 tons.

9. Waste & Used Batteries Management Project

Central Retail Vietnam set up collection points at GO!, TOPS Market, and go! for hazardous waste and used batteries—collecting over 1,000 batteries. Reverse Vending Machines at GO! stores nationwide recovered more than 450,000 bottles and cans for recycling.
