According to Global Forest Watch, natural forests covered approximately 44% of Vietnam’s land in 2020—around 14.5 million hectares. However, by 2024, the country had lost 125,000 hectares of these forests. Central Retail Vietnam remains committed to its mission of becoming an eco-friendly and sustainable retail leader, grounded in the belief that long-term business success must go hand in hand with societal and environmental progress.
In 2023, the company partnered with P&G Vietnam and the Gaia Nature Conservation Center to launch the “Forests For Good” initiative, aimed at expanding Vietnam’s forested areas while raising public awareness about environmental conservation.
The project began with the restoration of degraded forest land in the Ta Kou Nature Reserve in Binh Thuan Province—an ecologically vital area facing severe drought and desertification. More than 1,000 native, drought-resistant trees were planted to help regenerate the forest, restore biodiversity, and enhance ecosystem resilience.
Recognizing that public awareness of environmental conservation can often be limited, Central Retail Vietnam expanded community engagement in 2024 by integrating the campaign into in-store promotions at GO!, Big C, and Tops Market branches nationwide. Customers who spend at least 399,000 VND and purchase P&G products worth 100,000 VND are eligible to sponsor the planting of one tree and receive a discount coupon worth up to 50,000 VND—encouraging eco-conscious purchasing behavior.
Since its inception, the Forests For Good project has led to the planting of more than 14,000 trees across key forest areas, including Son Lien Forest in Thanh Hoa Province, Ca Mau National Park, Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve, and most recently, Ta Kou Nature Reserve. The primary goal is to rehabilitate degraded land and combat the impacts of climate change.
More than just a corporate social responsibility initiative, Forests For Good represents a core strategic commitment by Central Retail Vietnam to help shape a sustainable future—one that fosters a greener, healthier, and more resilient Vietnam for generations to come.
