Supersports Wins Asia-Level Sustainability Award at ESG Business Awards 2025 Recognized for the “Supersports Moves the Change in Society, Re-Balance the World” initiative promoting environmental and social responsibility through sports.

Bangkok – Supersports, under CRC Sports Co., Ltd., a part of Central Retail Corporation, has brought pride to Thailand’s sports industry by winning the Waste Reduction Award – Thailand at the ESG Business Awards 2025. The recognition was granted for the project “Supersports Moves the Change in Society, Re-Balance the World”, which integrates environmental and social initiatives into sports activities in creative and sustainable ways.

Guided by CRC Sports’ vision to drive sustainable development, Supersports has embedded ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles into its core brand strategy, “Move You, Move Sports.” The aim is to make sports a driving force for positive social and environmental change—reducing plastic use, lowering carbon emissions, and promoting equal access to sports for all Thai youth.

MS. Wiyada Buranapakorn, Head of Marketing at CRC Sports Co., Ltd., said:

“At CRC Sports, we believe that sports are not just about health or competition—they are a powerful tool for social and environmental transformation. Through the ‘Supersports Moves the Change in Society, Re-Balance the World’ initiative, we’ve turned sustainability into action through two key projects that make our sporting events more eco-friendly.”

Supersports 10 Mile Run Thailand

One of Thailand’s largest running events, organized in collaboration with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Chula Zero Waste, and Ecocrew, aims to redefine mass participation events by making them environmentally friendly. The initiative eliminates single-use plastics and implements sustainable alternatives throughout the event.

Key actions include:

  • Replacing single-use plastic cups with reusable cups.
  • Using bioplastic packaging for race packs.
  • Switching from pacer balloons to pacer flags.

These efforts have resulted in over 500 kilograms of plastic waste reduction and a decrease of more than 120 tons of CO₂e greenhouse gas emissions in 2024–2025. In addition, the monthly Eco-Training activities are expected to further reduce plastic waste by 72 kilograms per year.

Get Donate, Make Your Move

This project focuses on giving underprivileged children access to sports by collecting and redistributing second-hand sports shoes nationwide. It not only reduces waste and carbon emissions but also inspires hope and opportunity among young aspiring athletes.

In 2024, Supersports collected over 3,200 pairs of used sports shoes, preventing 3.72 tons of landfill waste and reducing 8.63 tons of CO₂e emissions, while enabling children across Thailand to participate in sports more equally.

MS. Wiyada concluded:

“Our mission is to make CRC Sports more than just a sports retailer—it’s a platform that uses the power of sports to change the world. We will continue to advance our ESG commitments to minimize environmental impact and create a stronger, fairer society for everyone.”
