Central Retail opens doors to Robinson Lifestyle and Department Store Chalong, Phuket, with THB 1.3 billion investment, to create more than a lifestyle destination shopping centre, deliver new experiences, leverage the province's potential, and grow sustainably with the community.

  • Central Retail Strengthened Its Leadership As The Top Retailer In Tourist Areas – As Thailand’s No.1 province in making the highest GDP from tourism, Phuket was selected for the THB 1.3 billion project, “Robinson Lifestyle Shopping Centre and Department Store Chalong” to welcome growing tourist traffic during economic recovery. The opening was also aligned with Phuket’s development plan in becoming the centre for tourism education and service innovation for sustainable development and international standards. The first phase was set to welcome customers on 20 September 2023 and full service would be in place by the end of this year.
  • ‘More Than A Lifestyle Destination Shopping Centre’ Strategic Direction – Not only this latest location would be the perfect destination for Eat-Shop-Play, but it was also planned for better quality of lives, socioeconomically and environmentally, in a sustainable manner, as its strategic direction encompassed on becoming the Lifestyle & Experiential Community. The shopping center was designed under ‘Retailtainment’ concept, bringing Carnival Village to life, reflecting the uniqueness of Phuket – in particular Chalong – residents, while delivering different and beyond shopping experience.

Our success with Robinson Lifestyle shopping centre Thalang in the previous year strived us to continue our expansion, resulting in the 28th branch, Robinson Lifestyle Shopping Centre Chalong making Robinson Lifestyle the shopping centre the retailer with the most coverage in 25 provinces in Thailand, also intended to be a flagship store with a unique design concept that reflects Chalong people’s lifestyle. Crafted as ‘Carnival Village,’ the latest addition offers ‘Retailtainment’ experience to all shoppers, spanning over 43,000 square metres and 3 floors.   2. More than sustainable community development : The shopping centre aims to operate in alignment with the province’s sustainability policy under three pillars:

    2. Education – Provide financial support for “Funtastic English Class for Kids #2” project in hiring native speakers to teach English and support school supplies for students at Baan Chalong School to develop English skills for future education and job opportunities;
    3. Environmental sustainability – Focus on Green Energy, including alternative energy and clean energy, in alignment with CRC Net Zero mission. Solar rooftop and high-efficiency chillers are installed to reduce carbon dioxide emission. The mall also worked closely with Thai Watsadu to support surrounding communities in building effective drainage system to drain waste water and reduce floods in the area.

That is why we have been working tirelessly with Robinson Lifestyle shopping centre for this latest location, Robinson Chalong, which is not too far from the original Phuket location.
